Sculpture park, Moscow

I spent a week this past autumn walking the streets of Moscow. The days were overcast and chilly, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. On my last full day in the city the sun came out. The day was beautiful; the skies were a clear blue, but I felt the Moscow I had grown to love had vanished.

One day my friend Teresa took me to the Sculpture park. We were en route to the Krasny Oktyabr chocolate factory, where the Gagosian gallery had installed a show. We passed the New Tretyakov Gallery and made our way through the gates of the park. We had walked past it one of my first nights in the city, and I had passed it one afternoon after taking photos of the monument to Peter the Great. I had meant to visit the gallery, but entered the building through the wrong entrance and instead found myself touring trade shows featuring Christmas decorations and trinkets of the kind you'd find in Brookstone.

For those who might be curious as to what the monument looks like, I'll post a photo of that next. In the meantime, I've posted two series of photographs from my Moscow to Beijing train trip here:

Part one: The Trans-Siberian: Beautiful Monotony
Part two: The Trans-Mongolian: Contrasts
