Queensboro Plaza, NYC

Sunday I met up with some friends and former roommates for lunch at Sri Pra Prai, my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. I was first to arrive and found a table easily; the afternoon rush had yet to begin. My friends arrived shortly thereafter. We ordered a pescatarian meal of green curry with shrimp, seafood papaya salad, sauteed eggplant with tofu, and a whole steamed striped bass with garlic, lemon, and chilis. It was fantastic.

From Manhattan, I took a train to Queensboro plaza and transferred. Afterwards, I realized I had gone the long way around, but I like transferring at Queensboro; it's one of my favorite subway stations. I love emerging from the underground tunnels to arrive on the raised platform, then to transfer to the 7, heading east all the way to Asian neighborhoods of Jackson Heights and Flushing (if not quite to Asia proper). I love elevated tracks that travel over the city, offering views of the city as you pass.

I'm glad too that as many friends made it as they did. Afterwards, Allen texted me to thank me for arranging the meal. I told him that we should all do it more often, and with greater regularity. I'm not quite ready to adhere to a set schedule, but the idea of planning to arrange gatherings around meals is now firmly lodged in my mind.
