Osvaldo #5 barber shop, NYC

Last month I spent almost every weekend in the Bronx. The first trip was inspired by the orchid show held at the New York Botanic Gardens. I was confused at first, thinking the show was held at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, but a friend of mine fortunately set me straight before I left the house.

The orchid show was fantastic, and the New York Botanic gardens remain one of my favorite areas of New York (even if I only get to them once every few years. The Bronx in general is a lot quieter than the neighborhoods in which I live, and I've come to appreciate that, especially on warm summer weekends when you can barely walk through Central Park or SoHo for the crush of people.

This barber shop rests on a corner en route to the gardens from the subway. I'm curious about the number five. Are there five Osvaldos? Does he have five barber shops? Is this the fifth barber shop to have taken up residence on this corner? I'd be tempted to get my hair cut here, save for the fact I trim my own hair.
