Empire Diner, NYC

It's not yet 70 degrees outside and already it feels like summer. Walking on Broadway I'm amazed how many people are out and about. You can barely move on the sidewalk for the crush of people.

I took this photo of the Empire Diner a few weeks ago when it was starting to get warm (before it started freezing again). It also seemed a sign of summer, the sun and the warmth. I took this quickly, while walking, hence the blur. I had the camera set to a 1/60th of a second exposure since I had stopped down to take another photo earlier for the greater depth of field. I snapped this one on the fly, without changing the settings. I love rangefinders.

This weekend I might start shopping for a bicycle. I'm excited to spend more time zipipng around the city, camera in tow.

You are very lucky if it already feels lke summer! I quite like the blur, actually - it's probably what MAKES the picture.

thanks david. i think the blur actually works quite well as well. sometimes the little unintentional flourishes are what make an image. :-)

I bought a Brompton folding bike last summer and I absolutely love riding all around the city and picking up the best eats from all the neighborhoods as I ride through and taking photos of whatever catches my eye. It's the best. Buy a bike.

O that's cool. There's a guy at my last gig that had a folding bike that he would keep in the office. I've started trolling CL to see what they have. Hopefully I'll find something soon. The funny thing is that in the back of my buiding there are a ton of bikes just piled in a corner. I wonder if they belong to anyone. They all need to be cleaned up, but I wonder if I can salvage one from there.
