A few years ago I read Anil's Ghost by Michael Ondjatte. After reading a particularly moving passage about a buddhist worshipping on the island, I decided I had to visit the source of Ondjatte's inspiration. The idea of that visit became a month during which I sought to see as much as I could of this island.
