Ippudo diners, NYC

My favorite noodle shop at the moment is Ippudo. A recent arrival in New York, the ramen shop has a longer history in its native Japan.

I took this photo at lunch on my birthday. I subscribe to the Chinese tradition (or superstition) of eating noodles on my birthday and had longed planned to eat lunch there (for dinner I went to and said goodbye to Florent, which I mentioned earlier). It was the first time I had the super spicy ramen with the fresh ground garlic. It was delicious. And I've gone back at least once for lunch to eat it again. Writing about it now makes me tempted to go, but perhaps on a cooler day.

While we're on the subject of Japan, I just posted a series of images from my trip there in November. Starting next week (or maybe tomorrow) I'll post some of the outtakes from that series, along with little stories about my trip.

In other news, happy birthday, Simone.
