Man lying under a tree, Central Park, NYC

A few weeks ago, I went to Central Park in hopes of taking a balloon ride. A light wind was blowing, which unfortunately was enough to keep the balloon from leaving the ground. I asked when it would be best to return. A woman asked me if I was a New Yorker. I answered in the affirmative; she told me to return Monday morning at 7am. I thanked her and left to wander the park.

I walked up a small hill overlooking the balloon. I set down a blanket and took out my book and camera. I shot this photo of the man under the tree just as a large group of people walked by. Soon, a photographer and model appeared beside me. A small entourage followed. The photographer posed the model in front of the boulder to the left of this photo and began setting up shots.

After they finished, the photographer's assistants set up a picnic. They sat on the ground on blankets and ate a quick meal. The model went off to change, and they soon set up a little further away. I remained, even after a light rain threatened to fall.
