Windows, Moscow

I don't know exactly what this building is, but it runs alongside the Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, now Daria Zhukova's Garage Center for Contemporary Culture. Originally a bus garage built by the constructivist architect Konstantin Melnikov, the building has since been taken over by Zhukova as an incredible art space.

I went one afternoon with Teresa. We lost ourselves in the neighborhood before coming across the rear of the building. Along the way we passed a Japanese noodle shop that Teresa had been meaning to return to (after touring the gallery, we repaired there for a late afternoon snack). The day was mostly clear, and the walk was pleasant.

The garage itself encloses a massive space. For the inagural exhibition, temporary galleries had been constructed, which unfortunately obscured the original architecture. It wasn't until the end of the exhibit that one came out fully into the garage proper. I'd love to see Richard Serra's works exhibited there, and I'd be curious to see what artists could do if offered the chance to install large works under its roof. I'd love to return to see.
