Guggenheim Museum, NYC

It's been some time since I've been to the Guggenheim. I feel like the last time I went it was to see the Tino Sehgal show, which seems like such a long time ago. While friends of mine weren't as impressed, I was enthralled. I kept wanting to go back, but I was afraid to, for fear it wouldn't live up to my first impressions. For the same reasons, I've never revisited Giselle. I saw it at the Opera Garnier on my first true trip to Paris. It'd be hard to match that experience were I to see it again.

One of the my favorite shows at the Guggenheim was the David Smith retrospective a few years back. I was completely unfamiliar with the sculptor, and I left the exhibit excited for having finally discovered him for myself. I bought the exhibition guide shortly thereafter and gave another to a friend. As I mentioned in the previous post, I was happy to have seen so much of his work at the MoMA show.
