Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC

I went to the Met on my birthday this past year. I spent an hour on the roof admiring the bamboo sculpture, but then spent the rest of the time wandering aimlessly through the galleries. While I go to the Met now and again, it's usually for a specific show; I rarely visit the permanent galleries. That day, I let myself be distracted. If something caught my attention from out of the corner of my eye, I would go towards it. In that way, I rediscovered much of what I had forgotten.

Before leaving, I walked to the Egyptian wing to sit in the large courtyard that houses the Temple of Dendur. It's one of my favorite places in the museum. I love sitting by the reflecting pool, occasionally laying back to look up at the sky through the wall of windows. On this day, on my way out, I caught someone looking back at me.

Yeah it's a pretty cavernous space. But I love it!
