Lafayette and Bond, NYC

This photo was taken a while ago, if only due to the fact that the skies are clear. As any New Yorkers reading this know, it's been raining (or at least overcast) for what seems like weeks. It hasn't really bothered me though. I didn't make it to the Finger Lakes, but it's been nice having this mild June, even if it is masquerading as a warmer version of April.

This past weekend the weather was almost an asset; at least in my case. I was teaching assistant for a Photoshop for photographers class at ICP. The workshop ran all weekend; part two is this weekend upcoming. It was interesting to look at Photoshop from the other side of things. I learned a lot about histograms, how digital cameras capture images, and a new workflow for how to adjust images for contrast and color balance in Photoshop.

Since I don't usually come to Photoshop from a digital photography standpoint, it was illuminating to see it from the perspective of one who does, and the instructor was very good at breaking down the adjustments in a step-by-step manner that never affected the base image. The class gave me a new appreciation for the program, and a new set of rigorous tools for my own work. We'll see what next weekend brings (both in terms of the work and the weather . . . )
